This Will Make You Hungry!

Velma Jackson, Circulation, created this display called "Cooking for the Holidays." The display is very festive and will definitely make you hungry when you see all of the great pictures and books.

And while you're at it, check out one of the books!

You've Been CLICK'd!

There's never a dull moment in the library's MultiMedia area.

Here, Linda Colbert, Head of the MultiMedia area, juggles working with videos and handling a phone call.

Visit Linda or any of the media staff on the 4th floor of the library. Ask them what they do. Ask them their opinion of life. You can even ask them what they think of the Carolina Panthers' chances of making the playoffs.

We do not guarantee any answers, though.

Behind the Scenes in the Library

Located on the 4th floor of the library, hidden in the back corner, lies the mystical Technical Services Department.

Ever wonder what's behind the closed doors of the 4th floor. Here's a sneak peek.

What exactly do they do? Too much to say, but one of the most important is buying and processing all of the library books at every campus. From start to finish, this busy group works hard to get books into your hands.

A Bear-riffic Display

Marcia Addison, the libraries' own Assistant Director for Technical Services, created this month's display that celebrates the history of the Teddy Bear. The display consists of her own personal collection as well as library books that are available for check out.

Stop by and relive your childhood!

A Party for Teddy

A friend to children, adults who think they're children, and Presidents alike.

Happy Birthday to the Teddy Bear!

Rebel! Read a Banned Book!

Sharon Nance put together a small, but timely and interesting display of the CPCC library collection of “banned books” to recognize the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week. During our Student Resources Day at Cato, we spotlighted these titles. Students were shocked to see some of their favorites in the group. The Harry Potter books, The Bridge to Terabithia, A Wrinkle in Time and I know Why the Caged Bird Sings were mentioned most.

ALA’s slogan this year is “Read Banned Books!” Yes, do.

Library Ladies Dazzle at Student Resources Day!

Sonia Coffin, Elaine Kushmaul, Yolyndra Green, Linda Colbert, and Velma Jackson greeted students during the Central Campus Student Resources Day.

Over 400 students were contacted by the libraries from all of the Student Resources Day activities at each CPCC Campus.

And you thought library workers were quiet!

Books Drafted for War!

Our August display was created by Brian Anderson, an instructor in the English, Reading, and Humanities Department. This special display, created from Brian's own personal collection, is entitled Books Go to War.

Literature in the Worst Places

The display housed books ranging from classics to topics like humor and sports. All of these titles are Armed Services Editions and in most cases are the complete work. The titles included in the display largely covered 1943-47. Looks like our GI's were well-read! Brian notes that some of the editions were being republished for the Iraq war. For more information, click here or contact Brian.

Think You're a Clever-Clog?

Decode the British slang used below that describes our June display. Don't be a clot! Use this link http://www.peevish.co.uk/slang/index.htm.

The June Library display celebrates the official birthday of the Queen as well as all things British (in particular the telly). That's the stuff! Posted by Hello

Looks like someone hammered the British theme here. Must have been the happy slappy British brigade. Posted by Hello

Looks like some of the Beatles couldn't stop a pig in the alleyway. Who's that a picture of? Is it a coffin dodger?  Posted by Hello

Crikey! It's the Queen (and her Dr. Who parliament).
